Letter to Lois Lowry

Dear Mrs. Lowry:

I greatly enjoyed your book The Giver. It showed that it is very challenging to make everything perfect. I liked all of the ideas in the story, including all of the different names given to everyday objects, such as a "comfort object" instead of a stuffed animal.

The only part that I did not agree with was the ending. It pretty much just stopped, almost like their had been pages ripped out of the book at the end. Yes, they heard music, but there could have been more to it, such as Jonas actually making it to Elsewhere. For all we know, he could have died on the rest of the way to Elsewhere.

Sincerely,

Andrew
